Moving Loads With Swivel Casters
A load mounted on all swivel casters has the advantage of a very small turning radius, making it highly maneuverable. The disadvantage is that it is not easy to control which direction each caster turns as the load is moved.
Because each caster is free to rotate in any direction, the load is highly sensitive to any slope or chamfer in the floor and prone to “rolling downhill”. Furthermore, it is difficult to stop/control the momentum of a heavy cart. This increases the risk of injury for material handling as it requires additional effort not only to move the load but, also to accurately position and steer the load. This often results in modest sized loads requiring two or more people to move them safely.
The PowerTug™ is specifically designed to overcome these issues and enable a single person to both move and accurately steer these type of loads
